Formed in 1902 Real Madrid are arguably the biggest team in world football, they have two huge rivalries each season where they take on their neighbours Atletico Madrid and also the El Clasico with huge rivals Barcelona..
Their honours list is very impressive with an incredible 32 league titles,9 european cups,2 UEFA Cups and 18 Copa Del Reys
Between the years of 1956 and 1960 they won the european cup 5 times consecutively a time when legendary player Alfredo Di Stefano was around,he is regarded as one of the best players to ever wear the colours of Real Madrid.
During the early 1980's Real Madrid had been reborn after a few years in the wilderness, this was the time when Real Madrid became a force in Spain and in europe boasting top class players such as Hugo Sanchez and Emilio Butragueno, the team went on to win two UEFA Cups and five league titles in succession.
In 1996 legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello arrived and although he only lasted one season they became champions again, players such as Roberto Carlos and Clarence Seedorf joined an already world class squad.
In 1998 Real Madrid won their 7th european cup beating Juventus in the final.
In 2000 president Florentino Perez took over the club and took the squad to a new level,in came players such as Zidane,Figo,Ronaldo and Beckham all added to a squad already containing players such as Roberto Carlos,Fabio Cannavaro and Raul, this team would go on to be known as the galacticos.
Although the squad had so much talent it never lived up to it's potential, although they won another league title and european cup many thought this team should have done so much more.
In 2006 Perez resigned as president and many of the star players either left or retired leaving the new president to bring in new world class players such as Robinho and Sergio Ramos but once again the team failed to live up to expectations and then president Calderon resigned.
In 2009 Florentino Perez returned and promised to once again buy the best players out there,he brought in Kaka from Milan and Cristiano Ronaldo for a world record fee of 80m and brought in world class manager Jose Mourinho who guided Madrid to another league title in his second season.
In 2013 Mourinho left Real Madrid and in came Italian Carlo Ancelotti who is now responsible of trying to dismantle the powerful Barcelona from the top of the Spanish league.
