In the 1970's Arsenal enjoyed a brief bit of success winning the league and FA Cup double in 1971 and then won another FA Cup in 1979 beating Manchester United 3-2 at Wembley.
Former player George Graham returned to manage the club in 1986 and guided the club to the league cup in his first season,
he then went on to win his first league title in 1989 by beating Liverpool on goal difference with a last minute goal by midfielder Michael Thomas at Anfield in
what is regarded as one of the most exciting finishes to a season.
George Graham's Arsenal went on to win another league title in 1991 and then went on to win the FA Cup and League cup double in 1993 beating Sheffield Wednesday in both finals,his last trophy was the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994 beating Italian team Parma 1-0 with an Alan Smith goal.
George Graham was sacked in 1995 and was replaced by Bruce Rioch who only lasted one season after a dispute with the board.
Bruce Rioch's replacement was unknown French manager Arsene Wenger who brought a fresh idea to Arsenal Football Club,changing the whole philosophy of the club with his exciting passing football,it is fair to say Arsenal were reborn under his guidance..
Wenger's ideas were to mix world class foreign talent with an existing backbone of English talent which included the famous defence of Seaman,Adams,Dixon,Keown,Winterburn and Bould as well as the hard working Ray Parlour and the lethal finishing of Ian Wright,he brought over exciting talent such as Robert Pires,Marc Overmars,Thierry Henry,Patrick Vieira,Dennis Bergkamp to name a few,Wenger's idea was to bring in unknown talent and nurture them into world class players such as Fabregas,Anelka,Vieira as well as many others..
Wenger's guidance saw the team win the league and FA Cup double in 1998 and also in 2002,the FA Cup in 2003 and 2005 and the league title in 2004 an achievement which also saw the team go all the way through the season without losing one single game,later on the team would be known as the invincibles,their unbeaten run continued in to the following season and stretched to an amazing 49 games unbeaten.
Arsenal ended a 9 year trophy drought by winning the Fa Cup in 2014.
